Considering a 2017 4Runner 🤔

I'm exploring buying a '17 4Runner with roughly 65k mi. After yrs of driving hatch backs this would be my 1st SUV. What do I need to watch for in terms of maintenance or wear and tear?

i'd say keep an eye on the suspension components and check for any dampness around the shocks. if the 4runner's still equipped with the x-reas system, then you can expect it to start leaking around that mileage.

inspect the lower control arm bushing for cracks or excessive play, those are common points for wear. also listen for any unusual rear axle noises.

So it's at 65k miles, then it's most probably due for a transmission fluid check and coolant flush. I think it also needs a thorough brake inspection. Agree with @mr.v007 on being really attentive to the suspension. And if you can ask the previous owner for service records, you'll see there the health of engine.

Good choice especially if it's been taken care of. Check for signs of frame rust, suspension wear, and if the brakes or fluids have been serviced regularly. Did you end up getting it @_TheMehssiah_?

I wanted to share an update after my first couple of months with the truck. Thanks again for the warm welcome! Everyone here made the buying process much easier. Switching from cars has been a fun change, and the 4Runner has been great for summer camping trips. I followed the advice from this thread and have a full fluid service scheduled next month to get started on maintenance.
