Car paint starting to crack

Its on old one and the paint is cracking from the roof down to the hood and its spreading like wild fire each day. Is it better to paint the whole thing or can repaint the panels affected only? And what are the best ways to prevent this?

i'd say the only reliable long-term solution would be a full repaint! spot repairs will likely result to mismatched colors and textures. not to mention, it won't address the underlying issues causing the paint cracks!!

for prevention, make sure to do proper surface preps before painting, use high-quality automotive paint, and finish with a durable clear coat! minimize prolonged exposure to extreme heat and sunlight, that significantly speeds up paint deterioration!

is it a lot? if it's just cracking in a few places, I think you can remove the damaged paint, prepare the surface, and then apply fresh paint and a clear coat. if it's cracking almost on all over the car paint, you need to totally repaint it

I agree with what both @SeaBreeze and @mr.v007 said here but it depends mostly on your budget so the power still comes from you. If it were me tho I will do a full repaint... Gonna cost me much more but at least I can pick the best paint option?

Depends on your budget, if you can afford to repaint the whole thing without a budge then that would be best. Good to think preventions, its always better than cure. If its not inside a closed garage then you should get a car cover. That's my suggestion.

Classic toyota issue lol. I just embrace my cars flaws. It shows age and experience, especially if its a classic one. But yeah I'd suggest you repaint the whole car.
