fixing a 2022 4runner radio

My friend's 2022 4Runner's radio went totally silent.

I helped to check a little, the fuses are good, tried the battery disconnect and holding the power button thing, but nothing happened. Also pulled the radio out, unplugged and plugged everything back in, still silent.

The thing is that USB, XM, and FM all notify that they're playing, but there is no sound at all.

Even the left/right sound balance is stuck, and the steering wheel buttons don't change the volume.

Can someone tell me what happened here or what else we should check again? Thanks!

maybe the amp might've died cos no sound, frozen balance, and dead volume usually point that way, especially if it's the JBL setup. It's under the passenger seat check for power and loose wires and If you can, scan for audio codes too. don't fret yet might still be under warranty, so fingers crossed

Probably head unit failure or a busted amp connection so maybe take a look at the amp fuse and wiring one more time, but honestly, it's probably time for a unit replacement or pro repair.

This sounds like a classic case of the audio amplifier (either internal to the head unit or a separate external one) having failed, or a wiring issue causing it to go into "protect" mode
